If you haven't seen it yet...

We went to see the Robert Downey/Jude Law Sherlock Holmes this evening. I thought it was reasonably well done, though of course it emphasizes elements of the Holmes canon that most depictions gloss over.

Short takes: The music was lovely; the villain was nicely, but appropriately villainous, and Watson wasn't a moron. I think that the fight scenes were overemphasized, but had their moments. And I feel sorry for either Rachel McAdams or her director -- but I haven't seen her in anything else, so I can't jump either way. But Guy Richie needs a native speaker of English with a bludgeon to keep him from insisting on overdone American accents.

Larger picture: Those of you who hated the film -- and I know you're out there -- what did you dislike? And of what you disliked -- how much of that is in the canon anyway?
